Creating a Strong Economy
A strong economy and an abundance of good paying jobs are the cornerstone of a successful community. When people work, families are more stable and neighborhoods are safer. The very fabric of the community is strengthened.
Governor Patrick has committed to creating 100,000 new jobs in the Commonwealth in his first term and, as your state senator, I would:
- Work vigorously to ensure that many of those jobs are created in this District.
- Work to ensure that the promise of the recently announced life sciences initiative translates not only into research jobs in our private and public universities but manufacturing and service jobs in our cities and towns.
- Work to ensure that everyone pays their fair share of the tax burden. Everyone benefits from the services provided by the state ― roads, schools, public safety ― and the cost cannot fall unduly on any one segment.
- Fight to close corporate loopholes, beginning with the outdated telecommunications loophole.
