The Boston Globe Endorses Tim Flaherty

"Flaherty is the clear choice to meet the district’s need for forceful, principled leadership."   [more]

My name is Tim Flaherty and I want to be your next State Senator.

I am a life-long resident of Cambridge ― the grandson of a unionized bus driver ― and I grew up in a household that was defined by public service. My father, who was Speaker of the House, taught me that good government can make a meaningful difference in peoples’ lives. My mother’s work ― as a fulltime nurse and part-time school librarian ― exemplified the very best in caring and serving others.

As a former prosecutor in Norfolk County, I was a strong advocate for people who needed a voice ― the victims of crimes and the communities in which they lived. I understand the importance of knowing what is right and getting it done. As your State Senator I would be guided by two things only ― my core beliefs and the needs of the people of this District.

This is a unique and exciting time in Massachusetts politics. With new leadership at every level of government, we all have an opportunity to be a part of historic change ― to make clean energy and renewable fuel a reality, to make our experiment with affordable health care the success it can be, to bring job growth and vitality back to the state ― to be the leader on the national scene that Massachusetts has always been. To strengthen our community for all its residents.

I know, with your vote, I can be a meaningful part of this change and I ask for your support in the Special Democratic Primary on Tuesday, September 11, 2007.
